How SizeSwapper calculates a match
SizeSwapper compares published brand measurement charts — the same bust, waist, hip, inseam, and foot-length figures each brand publishes on its own official size guide — rather than assuming that a label like “size 12” means the same thing everywhere.
What happens when you enter a brand and size
We look up the measurements published for that brand, size, category, and gender, then compare them against every size in your target brand's chart for the same category and gender. The size with measurements closest to yours is shown as your best match. If two sizes are close, we show both and explain which one runs closer versus roomier.
What happens when you enter your own measurements
The same comparison runs directly against your numbers instead of a source brand's chart, with no extra step in between.
Why some brands carry a confidence rating
Not every brand sizes as consistently as the next. We rate each brand's data so you know how much weight to give the result:
- High confidence — the brand uses a consistent measurement block across its main range, so a conversion is a reliable starting point.
- Medium confidence — sizing is generally consistent but with some variation between categories or collections.
- Variable — the brand sources from multiple manufacturers or product lines with inconsistent blocks, so a conversion is a rough guide only. We show a clear note on these brands rather than presenting the result as a hard fact.
What this isn't
SizeSwapper doesn't access or guess your body measurements unless you type them in yourself, and it doesn't replace a brand's own size guide for any specific product — cut, fabric, and fit vary by individual item even within a consistent brand. Always check the product page for items where fit matters most.
Where the data comes from
Measurements are taken from each brand's official size guide and checked periodically. Each brand page on SizeSwapper shows the source link and the date we last checked it, so you can verify the figures yourself or see if a brand has since updated its chart.
